Believe Project: $100 for sister on fixed income with medical bills

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Susan Schrank of Roselle.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"My younger sister refused to attend the family Christmas gathering because she was 'embarrassed' that she has no money to give her nieces or nephews gifts. Everyone assured her that no one cared and that we just wanted family together. She lives on a fixed Social Security income, no pensions or 401(k)s to fall back on. Most of her income is spent on rent in a senior living facility, but she has thousands of dollars of medical bills because she was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. The family has helped whenever we can, but we are all seniors living on fixed incomes except for my younger brother who is only 58. She is a very caring person and really needs the help. Thanks for sponsoring such wonderful events. I read them every day.

• The Believe Project mails a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else.
