Night life events: Mardi Gras comes to suburban bars

Nevin's musical Mardi Gras

Catch Hurricane Gumbo, a Cajun Creole band, starting at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Nevin's Brewing Company in Plainfield. Try any of Nevin's house beers, priced from $5.75 to $6.75. They include: Nevin's Bock Door Man, Nevin's Contentious IPA, Nevin's Lights Out Black IPA and Nevin's Loose Lips IIPL. $7 cover.

Batavia's Crosstown now open

Crosstown Pub and Grill recently opened a new location - this time in Batavia. The sports-themed pub plans to highlight the rivalry between Batavia and Geneva high school sports teams, as well as the Chicago Cubs and White Sox competitiveness on its 22 TVs. Known for its burgers and wings, it also features a wine-and-whiskey bar and another bar with 40 draft beers on tap.

Shaw's Mardi Gras drinks

Celebrate Mardi Gras with New Orleans-style specials, including authentic Hurricanes for $9 and Sazeracs for $12, at Shaw's Crab House. Taste Crescent City fare including oyster po'boys, shrimp po'boys, blackened red fish with crawfish sauce, crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice, jambalaya and seafood gumbo. Available Monday through Friday, Feb. 16-20.
