Woodstock teen charged with 2nd Elgin home invasion, robbery

A Cook County judge set bail at $400,000 Monday for a Woodstock teen charged with entering an Elgin home with an armed accomplice and robbing the homeowner.

Krista Robson, 19, faces home invasion, armed robbery and other charges related to the incident, which prosecutors said took place about 1 a.m. Nov. 28.

Robson and co-defendant Joshua Hampton, 25, of Chicago, are accused of threatening the male homeowner, who Hampton ordered to lie on the floor, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.

Hampton appeared in Rolling Meadows bond court Thursday and was ordered held on $350,000 bail.

The defendants are accused of taking a 60-inch television and a Sony PlayStation from the home, along with $60 and an iPhone from the resident, who they ordered to wait in the basement until they left, Shin said.

The man then called police, Shin said. He recognized the defendants from their photographs, which accompanied a December newspaper article describing a similar crime in Elgin, Shin said. In that case, the defendants showed up at the accuser's house after he responded to an online ad for an escort, police said at the time.

Robson and Hampton remain in custody at Kane County jail. Robson has no background except for the pending Kane County case, Shin said. Hampton's felony background includes 2011 convictions for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance near a school and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, for which he was sentenced to seven years in prison, Shin said.

If convicted of the most serious charges, Robson and Hampton each face up to 30 years in prison.

They next appear in court on March 13.
