Woodstock police seek help to solve 3 armed robberies

Woodstock police are seeking help in solving three armed robberies - two gas stations and a liquor store - last weekend.

The robberies might have been committed by the same person and no one was injured, police said. An undetermined amount of money was stolen in each robbery.

In the first robbery, a man walked into the Shell Gas Station, 315 N. Madison St., at about 10:05 p.m. Saturday, showed a semiautomatic silver and yellowish handgun and stole cash before running away, police said.

The suspect was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, wearing a camouflage hat and jacket, black pants with his face covered by a scarf or shirt.

The second robbery occurred at about 8:27 a.m. Sunday at the Gas Cap Citgo, 401 S. Greenwood Drive, police said. The suspect showed a black/silver gun and stole cash. A police dog lost the suspect's scent in a nearby parking lot, where authorities believe he entered a vehicle and left.

The suspect was about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, a black ski mask that only exposed his eyes, black gloves and blue jeans, police said.

The final robbery took place at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday at Sunrise Food and Liquor, 715 Madison, police said. The suspect, a man about 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet tall, had a black/silver handgun, a black ski mask covering his face and a black and gray jacket.

A police dog also lost his trail in a nearby parking lot, presumably after he left in a vehicle, authorities said.

McHenry County Sheriff's Department deputies also are helping Woodstock police.

Any one with information about the robberies should call (815) 338-2131.
