Buffalo Grove High School celebrates cheerleaders' state title

Most times they appear in front of their classmates and teachers, the members of Buffalo Grove High School's cheerleading squad are the ones firing up the crowd and spurring on the applause.

But on Monday morning, they were on the receiving end of the cheers, as students and staff gathered in the school's gymnasium to celebrate the cheerleaders' victory at the IHSA state meet over the weekend in Bloomington.

The squad edged out local rival Conant High School on Saturday to claim the crown in the coed division. It is the Bisons' second state title in three years.

The winning routine featured full tumbling sequences, with every member of the squad doing flips and handsprings, before moving on to pyramid stunts, with highflying basket tosses and difficult arabesques.
