Lombard's Winter Carnival a cabin fever reliever for families

Kids and parents were able to combat cabin fever Saturday during the Lombard Park District's annual Winter Carnival at the Sunset Knoll Recreation Center.

Activities at the event were located both inside and outside, giving participants a chance to have some winter fun sledding, painting snow with dyed water and enjoying s'mores near an outdoor fire pit.

Inside, carnival games were set up for the kids and entertainment was provided by a balloon artist and juggler. Families also had a chance to get their photos snapped in front of a green screen and printed with a Winter Carnival theme in the background.

"This is one of our main special events," said Jill Wejman, the park district's marketing and communications manager. "We really enjoy this one because the kids tend to get cabin fever from being stuck inside so often. It's nice to have an event where they can come out. It's just one of the community's favorite events as well."
