Believe Project: $100 to a woman at church who brings smiles despite her troubles

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Becky Casey of Carol Stream.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"I would like $100 to give to a women at my church who has endured a lot of trials in life. She raised a family, taking care of her kids, one with special needs who eventually had to be placed in a children's home and died as a young adult. After raising her family, she had cancer and beat it, she went back to her job and then was laid off. She has had a few part-time jobs to try to make a living. She had to move in with a friend, while waiting for subsidized housing, so she could live independently. Her attitude through all of this is so wonderful. She is funny and makes everyone laugh. She is kind and still gives to the church with the little money she has and with her time. I'd give her $100 and let her do whatever she wants with it. I know it could help her pay a bill, or get food or clothes or even give back to others in some way. I know it would uplift her and let her know that people are thinking of her and praying for her."

• The Believe Project will mail a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
