Officials: As many as 15 infants affected by Palatine measles cluster

At least five infants enrolled at a Palatine day care center have contracted measles, and it's possible another 10 may have been infected, health officials said yesterday. Dr. Terry Mason, chief operating officer of the Cook County public health department, said more measles cases are expected in the area since the disease is highly contagious. Agents find $1.7 million of cocaine, heroin in Naperville man's apartment

A Naperville man faces up to 60 years in prison after authorities say they found an estimated $1.7 million worth of cocaine and heroin in his apartment. Police say they found 17 kilos of cocaine and one kilo of heroin in the apartment of Sergio Vergara-Cardenas, 29, who was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Archbishop Cupich leaves big impression on students, staff at Carmel

Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich joined students yesterday at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein for lunch, while also popping into several classrooms and even getting into a "selfie." Arlington Hts. crews clear snow for expectant parents

Arlington Heights public works crews came to the rescue during this week's blizzard when an expectant mom went into labor in the middle of the blizzard. Margie and Carmelo Lamancusa called the village's police and public works departments for help Sunday night when Margie started having contractions. Two plows cleared the couple's street and the end of their driveway right away. The baby was born at the hospital Monday morning. Full story.

Versteeg encouraged by his progress

The Blackhawks' Kris Versteeg participated in his first practice skate with his teammates yesterday after suffering an injury in the Winter Classic and could be playing again as early as Monday against the Arizona Coyotes.
