Milwaukee man charged in St. Francis home invasion

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 34-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged in a St. Francis home invasion following his arrest minutes after the incident was reported.

Scott Vukovic is charged with burglary of a dwelling and attempted robbery with use of force in connection with the early Sunday break-in. He's accused of prying open the back door of a home and demanding cash from a 68-year-old resident.

According to a criminal complaint, Vukovic woke the sleeping victim and brought her into the living room, where the contents of her purse were scattered. The complaint says he tried to flee when he heard police enter the home.

A neighbor called police after the suspect initially tried to break into her home.

Vukovic is scheduled to return to court next week for a preliminary hearing. Court records don't list an attorney.
