Chili, pie and games featured at Grace Lutheran event

On Jan. 24, Grace Lutheran Church of Lily Lake hosted a Chili Cook-Off, Pie Bake-Off, and Game Night. They had more than 18 chilis served for dinner and 11 entered into the cook-off. There also were 15 pies served and nine entered into the bake-off.

The church especially wants to thank the local businesses that donated gift cards/certificates for prizes to the top three winners in the cook-off and bake-off: Ream's Elburn Market, Paisano's Pizza & Grill, and Eddie Gaedel Pub & Grill.

The winners loved their prizes and can't thank you enough for your generous donations.

They also had more than 50 bingo prizes that were donated by church members and were given away all night. There were prizes for all ages including gift cards/certificates, grill/cooler combos, picture frames, candles, board games, puzzles, and a whole lot more!

All and all we ate well, had a lot of fun, and of course enjoyed the fellowship of over 150 family, friends, & neighbors of our beautiful community!

Join Grace Lutheran Church every Wednesday in Lent, starting Feb. 24 through April 1, for "Lent Soup and Sacrament Services" at noon and 6 p.m. Homemade soups are served along with bread from Heidi's Bakery in Geneva. Once the majority of people are served, the Rev. Ernie Rex delivers a message that welcomes and engages input from everyone in the smaller and more intimate space of the fellowship hall.

The church is always open to the community and they invite you to join them at any event or worship service. Events are posted on the calendar at www.graceoflilylake.com as well as pictures of past events.

On Sundays, the 9 a.m. service is a liturgical worship with traditional hymns and organ music. Families begin worship together and children leave for their Sunday school classes after a children's sermon with the pastor. It is followed at 10:30 a.m. by a contemporary worship with contemporary Christian music and guitar music.

Grace Lutheran Church is at 5N600 Hanson Road, just north of Route 64 and east of Route 47 in St. Charles. All of the services are open to the community.
