Factory worker dies in air tank explosion in Chicago suburbs

CAROL STREAM, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a worker at a suburban Chicago factory has been killed after the machine he was working on exploded.

The explosion happened Monday night while the worker was testing for leaks in an air tank at Maac Machinery in Carol Stream. According to authorities, the worker died at the scene and another person near the explosion declined to be treated.

The worker killed was identified by authorities as 35-year-old Chad Nelson of Elgin. Authorities say the building was not severely damaged.

A spokesman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says it is investigating the explosion.
