Wheaton Warrenville South Show Choirs Place in Regional Competitions

Esprit, the girls show choir at Wheaton Warrenville South was named unisex group grand champion at the Mt. Zion Midwest Invitational show choir competition held on January 17. Comprised of 36 singer/dancers, the group also earned awards for the best choreography and best vocals. On January 24, Esprit was named first runner up at the Milton Choralation Invitational in Milton, Wisconsin.

The Classics, comprised of 45 male and female singer/dancers, was named the runner up in the advanced, mixed group division at both competitions. Senior Ryan Kirby was named best male soloist in a show at Mt. Zion and Milton. In a separate vocal competition at Mt. Zion, sophomore Dana Roesner was recognized as best female soloist.

The Wheaton Warrenville South show choir band earned the best band award at both competitions. The 13-member band accompanies the vocal and dance performances of Esprit and The Classics.

Directed by Kelsey Cunningham and choreographed by Dwight Jordan, Esprit and The Classics will compete in the Troy-Buchanan Invitational (Missouri) and the Petal Show Choir Invitational (Mississippi) in February. Wheaton Warrenville South will host 20 middle school and high school choirs from all over the country during its annual Choral Classic show choir competition in March.
