Empty Bowls fundraiser to support food pantry

This year, District 212's Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, in the student cafeteria at West Leyden High School, 1000 Wolf Road, Northlake.

Sponsored by the West Leyden Clay Club, the event features original art work fashioned by student members of the clay club, as well as bowls created by students and teachers from East Leyden. Those who attend will get a generous portion of "all you can eat" bread and soup - served in a handcrafted ceramic bowl of your choice for only $15.

If you would like to participate by having soup only, and not purchasing a bowl, the cost is $5. The event is a fundraiser that will benefit the Leyden Food Pantry and raise awareness of world hunger. The public is invited to attend and help support the effort.

Soup and bread donations from: Anyway's, chicken Enchilada; Cochiaros, chicken noodle; Grand Stand Pizza, French onion; The Great Escape, chili; Lalo's, chicken soup; The Pizza Joynt, baked potato; Potbelly, cheddar broccoli; and Trader Joe's, roasted red pepper.

Fresh bread will be from Ozzie's. Fresh bread donated from Barbara Piltaver, Leyden People and Places Newspaper.
