Baltimore airport showcases local music with weekly events

BALTIMORE (AP) - Some Baltimore-area rock bands hope to put their music on a higher plane by performing at the airport.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and listener-sponsored Towson radio station WTMD are promoting a weekly series of concerts in the terminal, near baggage claim 5.

The first show, featuring The Herd of Main Street, was held Friday. Concerts are scheduled the last Friday of each month through May.

Airport officials say they also plan to present recorded music from local artists in other parts of the terminal.

Airport Chief Executive Paul Wiedefeld says the music will help give customers a positive, memorable travel experience.
