Chicago mayor monitors winter storm preparations
CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says city crews are prepared to keep streets plowed and passable in the face of a widespread winter storm.
The mayor attended a briefing Saturday afternoon to get an update from the chief of the city's streets and sanitation department. In a statement, Emanuel says snow plow drivers and other city workers are on alert.
Chicagoans can go online to track snow plows on a city website. The streets and sanitation department also has a Twitter account that will post updates.
The National Weather Service expects more than a foot of snow in parts of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan in what could be the most widespread winter storm so far this season.
