Blizzard conditions expected as snow falls on Nebraska, Iowa

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - More than 6 inches of snow fell across much of eastern Nebraska and Iowa overnight, and forecasters are warning about blizzard conditions Sunday as the storm continues.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for the eastern half of Nebraska and all of Iowa. Those continue into Sunday evening.

A number of cities in Nebraska reported receiving 6 inches of snow overnight, including near Hastings, Osceola and Hubbell.

Heavier snow was reported in Iowa. Des Moines observers reported 10 inches of snow there Sunday morning.

Several more inches of snow is expected to fall through the day on Sunday. And forecasters say strong winds over 35 miles per hour Sunday afternoon will cause drifting and make driving conditions hazardous.
