Notre Dame expects to play Wake Forest despite expected snow

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The University of Notre Dame says it expects its scheduled game Sunday between its fourth-ranked women's basketball team and Wake Forest to be played even though the National Weather Service is predicting up to a foot of snow.

Team spokesman Chris Masters says Atlantic Coast Conference regulations calls for the game to be played as long as both teams and game officials can make it to the arena.

The Demon Deacons (10-12, 1-7 ACC) are scheduled to face the Irish (20-2, 7-1) 1 p.m. Sunday. The weather service has issued a winter storm warning for northern Indiana, predicting 6 to 12 inches of snow.

The university says it encourages everyone to exercise caution and to stay tuned to travel advisories and other alerts from local authorities.
