Former chief judge retires from federal court in Chicago
CHICAGO (AP) - U.S. District Judge John Grady has retired after 39 years at the federal court in Chicago.
Grady was appointed in 1975 by President Gerald Ford. Friday was his last day on the job.
Grady served as the district's chief judge from 1986 to 1990.
Current Chief Judge Ruben Castillo said even after that, Grady continued to "lead his colleagues" through strong service as a trial judge at the court.
Grady graduated from Northwestern Law with juris doctor degree in 1954.
He also worked for several years in private practice and with the U.S. attorney's office.
