2 Nevadans face drug charges in pot bust on I-80 in Ohio

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Two Nevadans have been arrested on felony drug charges in Ohio after state troopers seized more than 235 pounds of marijuana from their pickup truck during a traffic stop.

The Ohio Highway Patrol identified the two suspects from Reno as 42-year-old Kimberly Benson and 62-year-old Daniel Essad.

KTVN-TV reports (http://tinyurl.com/qhe6xj4) Benson was driving and Essad was a passenger in the 2007 Chevy pickup troopers pulled over on Interstate 80 for failing to signal a lane change in Lorain County west of Cleveland Jan. 21.

Troopers say they became suspicious and called in a drug-sniffing dog that found the pot.

Both have been charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana. If convicted of the second-degree felonies, each could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
