Chicago pastors to speak at Judson chapel

Judson University will welcome two Chicago pastors during chapel services this week. The services will be held at 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St. (Route 31) in Elgin. The events are free and open to the public.

Peter Hong, lead pastor of New Community Covenant Church in Chicago, will speak Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Hong leads a multiethnic church in two urban Chicago neighborhoods, including Logan Square and Bronzeville. He founded the church in 2001. Hong holds master's degrees in divinity and theology from Trinity International University (formerly Trinity Evangelical Divinity School).

Mark Bergin, lead pastor of The Painted Door Church in Chicago, will speak Friday, Feb. 6.

Bergin's nondenominational church was established in the city of Chicago in the fall of 2009. A former freelance sports reporter from Seattle, Wash., he admittedly also enjoys another favorite American pastime: eating hot dogs. The Painted Door Church worships in Wells High School on North Ashland Avenue on Sundays, and in homes throughout the city during the week. Bergin has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Washington and a master's degree in Christian Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
