Algerian club awaits CAS verdict on Champions League ban

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Algerian club JS Kabylie should know within two weeks whether its ban from the African Champions League has been overturned, following the death of a player during fan violence last year.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it aims to give an urgent verdict on the club's appeal before the 2015 competition starts.

Kabylie was banned for two years from Confederation of African Football tournaments after its striker Albert Ebosse suffered fatal head injuries following a home loss in the domestic league last August.

The 24-year-old Ebosse from Cameroon was hit by a rock when leaving the pitch.

Kabylie qualified for the Champions League by finishing second in Algeria's league. It was replaced by fourth-place MC El Eulma.
