Boys bowling: Jacobs' Bionda 9th at state

Jacobs junior Brandon Bionda is in ninth place after the first day of action at the IHSA state boys bowling tournament in downstate O'Fallon.

Bionda rolled a six-game series of 1,346 on Friday. His high game was his second, a 279.

Elgin senior Lowell Lynde IV is in 71st place after rolling a 1,205 while South Elgin senior Jake Brown finished 91st with a 1,156.

Machesney Park Harlem, led by a 1,489 from sophomore Jacob Nimtz for the individual lead, has the team lead going into Saturday's action with a 6,488.
