Bloomingdale man wins 'Biggest Loser'

Another Chicago suburban native, Toma Dobrosavljevic of Bloomingdale, won the title of "The Biggest Loser" on the NBC weight loss competition show last night. Dobrosavljevic lost 171 pounds from his starting weight of 336 pounds for a final scale reading of 165 pounds as the confetti fell during the live finale in Los Angeles. Dobrosavljevic will also take home a $250,000 prize. Full story.

Critics say COD building should be named for veteran

A decision to name the College of DuPage's Homeland Security Education Center after college President Robert Breuder is drawing criticism from some area veterans and others who say it would be more appropriate to name it in honor of Army Staff Sgt. Elk Grove Village man guilty in sexual abuse of girls

An Elk Grove Village man faces a maximum 127 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sex offenses against two young girls. A 12-member DuPage County jury deliberated for almost seven hours yesterday before finding Scott Gates, 35, guilty of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child. Gates was acquitted of three counts of home invasion. DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said he hopes the girls can live as normal lives as possible moving forward. Full story.

Chicago man admits to suburban burglary spree

A Chicago man who last July burglarized several homes in Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect and one home in Inverness was sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty. Jeremy Driscoll, 27, pleaded guilty to multiple residential burglary charges, according to court records. Full story.

Pedestrian hit by car in Crystal Lake

A pedestrian had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter after being hit by a car yesterday in Crystal Lake, officials said. Crews were called to the intersection of Gates Street and Second Street around 1:30 p.m. for the crash, according to a news release. Full story.

They traveled different roads to arrive in Chicago Fire gear for the start of preseason training, but those roads all started in the same place. As has been their tendency this season, the Bulls followed Tuesday's win over Golden State with a horrid 123-118 double overtime loss last night to the Los Angeles Lakers, who were missing their top two scorers and ended a nine-game losing streak.
