'Biggest Loser' resolves to keep the weight off

Toma Dobrosavljevic knows how tough it was to lose 171 pounds during the 16th season of NBC-TV's "The Biggest Loser."

And the Bloomingdale man is not afraid to admit he has some concerns about keeping all that weight off now that he has won the show's $250,000 prize.

In a conference call Friday, Dobrosavljevic, who dropped from 336 pounds to 165 during the weight loss competition, said he learned on the show to eat healthier and increased his workout from three to six hours a day as his body became more fit.

To maintain his weight loss, Dobrosavljevic said he has resolved to set aside 90 minutes a day to work out, do meal planning, and concentrate on other health and fitness activities. He also has resolved to get adequate sleep.

"(Before) I felt like I needed a nap all the time," he said. "(Now) I feel amazing. I feel there's nothing I can't do."

An athlete at Addison Trail High School who played competitive soccer after he graduated, Dobrosavljevic said he still wants to build muscle mass and play recreational soccer.

A supportive network of family and friends will help him stay on track, Dobrosavljevic said. His girlfriend, who has lost weight herself, and his gym will continue to push him to stay fit.

Dobrosavljevic, who had promised his dying father nine years ago that he would lose weight, said he will return to his job as a senior manager at a technology company but wants to do some public speaking to help others. He said he will use his $250,000 in prize money to pay back his company for support it gave while he took time off, help his mother pay off her mortgage and pay down student loans.

Oh, and one more thing.

"Definitely a new wardrobe," he said. "I think I'm short of clothes."
