WAYS to present unit about sexual abuse

Wayne/Winfield Area Youth/Family Services has announced its continuing education topic, "Treatment Strategies for Working with Sexually Abused Children."

The unit will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4. This Continuing Education Unit will be presented by Bonnie Fries, a licensed clinical social worker and assistant director for The Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County.

This presentation will provide clinicians with a discussion of indicators of sexual abuse, how to intervene when abuse is suspected, and new rules for mandated reporting.

Strategies for working with sexually abused children will be the focus of the presentation. Call WAYS at (630) 231-7166 to register in advance and with any questions you may have.

WAYS provides individual, family and group therapy in English and Spanish; anger management, and parenting classes; senior services; summer day camp; and tutoring.

WAYS is a community -based nonprofit agency serving West Chicago, Winfield, Warrenville, Wayne, Bartlett, Hanover Park, and Carol Stream. Funding is provided by Wayne Township, Winfield Township, village of Hanover Park, ECOLAB Employees Foundation, client fees, insurance, donations and community fundraisers.
