New Community Covenant pastor to speak at Judson chapel

Peter Hong, lead pastor of New Community Covenant Church in Chicago, will speak during Judson University's chapel service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St. (Route 31) in Elgin. The event is free and open to the public.

Hong leads a multiethnic church in two urban Chicago neighborhoods, including Logan Square and Bronzeville. He has a clear vision for the church he founded in 2001, and he shares its mission during a video presentation on the church's website (thenewcom.com/who-we-are/our-story/):

"We seek to be a city within a city, an alternate Chicago, that passionately loves Jesus Christ, (and) intentionally engages in authentic community and radically advances the cause of Jesus," it says.

Hong holds master's degrees in divinity and theology from Trinity International University (formerly Trinity Evangelical Divinity School).

He and his wife Jenny have three children.
