10 years for man who broke into ex's home, kissed her

A Mount Prospect man who authorities say broke into his ex-girlfriend's home on Aug. 29 and forced her to kiss him was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The sentence Wednesday followed a guilty plea by Equilino Jara, 23, to home invasion involving a sexual offense, according to court records. The class X felony is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Jara, who received credit for 127 days in custody, must complete at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He was also ordered to pay $649 in fines.
