Enjoy a candlelight night hike in Coral Woods

Discover the beauty of a crisp, winter evening through woodland trails lit only by candlelight.

McHenry County Conservation District will host Candlelight Night Hikes, from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30 and 31, at Coral Woods Conservation Area, 7400 Somerset, Marengo.

Drop in anytime for this free program. Get some outdoor exercise, enjoy the frosty night air and enjoy hot chocolate and snacks around the campfire. No pets, please.

An additional Candlelight Hike/Cross-Country Ski is scheduled for Feb. 20 and 21 at Rush Creek in Harvard.

You may ski/hike every night until 9 p.m. on solar-lit trails at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock, a half-mile loop through prairie; and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary, a one-mile looped trail through the wooded savanna. Sites open late during daylight saving time change. After March 8, sites close at sunset. For more information, call (815) 338-6223 or visit MCCDistrict.org.
