Moylan visits schools for Catholic Schools Week

In recognition of National Catholic Schools Week, state Rep. Marty Moylan, a Democrat from Des Plaines, visited two area Catholic schools on Monday, Jan. 26. Moylan visited St. Zachary School in Des Plaines, where he fielded questions from students, and at Mary, Seat of Wisdom in Park Ridge, where he met with Principal Julie Due and toured the school.

"Catholic schools play an integral role in the education of students in our communities," Moylan said. "I am always interested in finding ways to improve the educational outcomes and opportunities of our students, and it's great when I have the opportunity to step foot into a classroom."

National Catholic Schools Week is an initiative of the National Catholic Educational Association. The week is meant to celebrate Catholic education in the United States and the contribution Catholic schools make to young people, the community and the country. National Catholic Schools Week is celebrated during the last week of January.

"It was great to hear so many good questions asked by the students during today's visit," Moylan said. "Catholic schools embody the ideal that all students should receive the best education."
