Henry Ford College gets $1M endowment gift for scholarships

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Henry Ford College has received a $1 million endowment gift from the estate of Arthur Kochoff to help fund scholarships for students.

The Dearborn school announced this week that the bequest is one of the largest gifts in the college's more than seven-decade history.

Kochoff, who died Feb. 19, 2014, began his career in 1939 on the assembly line at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for almost 50 years. He and his late wife, Mary, were known for their philanthropic efforts.

Kochoff attended both Henry Ford College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
