Authorities: Body found after Detroit-area mobile home fire

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have found a body in a suburban Detroit mobile home that was destroyed by fire.

The fire happened Wednesday morning at Wagon Wheel Mobile Home Park in Wayne County's Canton Township.

Fire Chief Joshua Meier tells The Detroit News two people lived at the home, but only one was home at the time. The identity of the person who died wasn't immediately known. Cause of death was under investigation along with the fire's cause.

Meier tells the Detroit Free Press that frigid conditions and a lack of water in the area made fighting the fire more difficult. It was about 8 degrees when he arrived. Most of the blaze was put out after 15 to 20 minutes.

In a statement, Meier says the home had no working smoke detectors.
