Impact trade Felipe to Red Bulls for Oyongo, Alexander

MONTREAL (AP) - The Impact have traded midfielder Felipe to the New York Red Bulls for left back Ambroise Oyongo and midfielder Eric Alexander.

Felipe was pulled aside by Montreal coach Frank Klopas ahead of practice Tuesday and told he was headed to New York. The 24-year-old Brazilian was a regular in Montreal's lineup since the team joined Major League Soccer three years ago.

Felipe had his best year in 2012 under coach Jesse Marsch, who was hired by the Red Bulls on Jan. 7 to replace coach Mike Petke.

The Impact also received allocation money and an international player spot for the 2015 season, and the Red Bulls got the first spot in the MLS allocation ranking.
