Hoffman Estates recognizes four local green businesses

The village of Hoffman Estates operates an award program called the Hoffman Estates Green Business Recognition Program. The free and voluntary program recognizes local businesses that are focused on sustainable environmental and economic practices. The program also offers educational support and resources for participants to learn and share best practices.

Since its inaugural year in 2011, the program has recognized a total of 16 Hoffman Estates businesses. In late 2014, the village of Hoffman Estates awarded the following as Green Businesses:

• Balance Chiropractic and Wellness, 2500 W. Higgins Road, Suite 420

• Chicago Marriott Northwest, 4800 Hoffman Blvd.

• Edward Jones, 2300 Barrington Road, Suite 215

• Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 2200 W. Higgins Road, Suite 201

Hoffman Estates Green Businesses have satisfied multiple criteria that include energy and water efficiency, waste prevention, recycling, transportation, and workplace and community involvement. Businesses may qualify for Green Business status with any combination of these criteria. Applications are reviewed by staff and the village's Sustainability Commission. The program has a continual application period.
