BMO Harris Bank, Chicago Blackhawks recognize youth hockey personnel

BMO Harris Bank recently announced, in partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks, the recognition of James Randolph, Phil Zangara, and Edward W. Forsberg Sr. as the BMO Harris Bank Youth Hockey Player, Coach and Volunteer of the Month, respectively.

Chris McComish, EVP, Head, Strategy, Products and Segments, BMO Harris Bank, presented the awards to Randolph, Zangara, and Forsberg during the on-ice ceremony at the Jan. 20 Blackhawks game.

For the past seven seasons, BMO Harris Bank and the Chicago Blackhawks have teamed up to honor one youth hockey coach and youth hockey player each month for their outstanding achievements both on the ice and in their communities.

This is the second year BMO Harris Bank and the Chicago Blackhawks are recognizing one volunteer of the month, awarded for their efforts in giving back to their community. All candidates are nominated by teammates, coaches, friends or family members through the Blackhawks' website and are judged by an amateur hockey committee.

Player of the month James Randolph is an eighth-grader at Deer Path Middle School in Lake Forest. James plays for the Lake Forest Winter Club and has been a team captain for two years. He's received MVP, Coach's Choice and the Will Humphrey Leadership awards.

Last year, James received the R.A. Howell award for leadership, honor, courage and compassion. Randolph has served as a volunteer at Feed My Starving Children.

Coach of the month Phil Zangara is a Niles native who works with the Maulers Travel Hockey organization in Gurnee. He enjoys teaching youth how to play and respect the game of hockey. He first got involved in coaching when his son started playing at the age of 5, and believes coaching gives him the opportunity to give back to the community.

Kenilworth resident Edward W. Forsberg Sr. is a volunteer for the New Trier Girls Hockey team, where he serves as the team president. Forsberg is also a member of the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, where he serves on the AHAI high school and girls committee.

Forsberg became involved with hockey as a volunteer for his son's first house league team. He continued as a coach and started managing high school teams.
