Police investigating body found in New Buffalo Township

NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State Police are investigating the death of a woman found near railroad tracks in Berrien County.

According to a press release, the body was found Sunday afternoon outside of a residence in New Buffalo Township. The release says the victim is a black woman in her 30s or 40s.

Police say the victim wasn't hit by a train because there aren't any signs of trauma. Investigators believe the body was placed there and the victim may be from out of state due to the location's proximity to Interstate 94.

WOOD-TV (http://bit.ly/15JYOZ2 ) reports investigators haven't identified the victim and are currently searching missing person records.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at a facility in Grand Rapids.
