Police charged man with Ottumwa shooting death

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - Police say authorities have arrested a man near St. Louis who was sought in connection with the shooting death of a man in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Police announced Monday that Ottumwa officers arrested 24-year-old Dustin William McDanel on Friday in the St. Louis suburb of Richmond Heights, Missouri. Officers searched a home and found McDanel under a bed.

An arrest warrant at earlier been issued for McDanel, charging him with first-degree murder and escape from custody.

McDanel is accused of shooting 25-year-old Roger Wiseman Jr. on Jan. 4. Wiseman was found in an Ottumwa street and died later at a hospital.

Court records don't indicate if McDanel has an attorney.
