Become a Reserve Corps volunteer:

Lake County residents who want to volunteer can receive free training for widespread emergency situations by joining the Lake County Medical Reserve Corps. A medical background is not required. An informational meeting about what the group does is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in Room C0002, Building C at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. The group is affiliated with the Lake County Health Department's emergency response program and supports the existing health care system in times of public emergencies, such as to assist with the flu outbreak in Lake County or to Louisiana to help after Hurricane Katrina. There are 77 Medical Reserve Corps units with 4,500 members in Illinois. Visit http://health.lakecountyil.gov or contact Chet Splitt, csplitt@lakecountyil.gov or (847) 377-8358.
