Ajax and Feyenoord draw 0-0, PSV's lead grows to 6 points

AMSTERDAM (AP) - Feyenoord failed to capitalize on several good chances Sunday as it played out a 0-0 draw at Ajax in a tame edition of Dutch football's fiercest rivalry.

The stalemate left Eredivisie leader PSV Eindhoven - which won 2-1 Saturday night at Cambuur Leeuwarden - with a six-point advantage over Ajax, which is second, ahead of third-place Feyenoord.

PSV weathered early pressure at Cambuur before taking the lead when captain Georginio Wijnaldum headed home a cross by Jetro Willems late in the first half.

Memphis Depay doubled PSV's lead in the 74th minute with a clever looping header over advancing goalkeeper Leonard Nienhuis, before substitute Daniel de Ridder scored a late consolation goal for the home team.

"It was a good response after getting knocked out of the cup," PSV coach Phillip Cocu said. Second-tier Roda JC Kerkrade dumped PSV out of the cup in a midweek clash.

At the Amsterdam Arena, Feyenoord striker Colin Kazim-Richards was chiefly responsible for only the second 0-0 in Ajax-Feyenoord matches. Kazim-Richards squandered the two best chances of the match, failing from close range in the 20th and 75th when he should have scored.

"If we want to be champions, we have to do a lot better," said Ajax coach Frank de Boer, who is chasing his fifth consecutive league title with Ajax.

PEC Zwolle stayed fourth after sharing the points in a 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar.
