Chicago Police find 386 pounds of marijuana in SUV

CHICAGO (AP) - A man got more than a ticket during a traffic stop when Chicago police discovered 386 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1 million inside an SUV he was driving.

The traffic stop happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday in the city's North Austin neighborhood. Police say that when officers tried to pull over 37-year-old James Hargett of Chicago, he allegedly drove off before he jumped from the vehicle and ran away. Police later found Hargett hiding under a porch and arrested him.

For the traffic stop, Hargett was charged with three traffic citations and a driving an uninsured vehicle. The discovery of the marijuana resulted in a felony charge of cannabis possession.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.
