Outdoor Sports Show continues Sunday in Rosemont

The 36 annual Chicagoland Outdoor Sports Show was in full swing on Saturday, the fourth day of its five-day run.

Rick Rosalina, show director, said this year promoters added a bigger gun show, which 20,000 people will venture through, along with visiting the hunting, fishing, boats and (kids favorite) trout pond fishing exhibits at the show.

Jessica Nyberg from the TV show “Handguns and Defensive Weapons” on the Sportsman Channel was teaching a carry/conceal class about knowing your state laws and choosing the right weapon for your needs. She said that there is a 42 percent rise in women carrying handguns under the carry/conceal program.

Jeff Zeilinger and his daughter Samantha, 11, of Wheaton were trying their luck panning for gold. After panning for an hour, Samantha had a bag full of pyrite or “fool's gold.” “I'll save it and keep it for a memory,” she said.
