Steelers sign punter Brad Wing to 1-year extension

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers are sticking with punter Brad Wing.

The team signed Wing to a one-year contract extension on Friday. The 23-year-old Wing averaged 43.7 yards per punt in 2014, the fifth-best mark by a rookie punter in team history. Nearly a third of Wing's punts were downed inside the opponent's 20.

Wing joined the Steelers last January. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. Wing, who played at LSU, was expected to battle Adam Podlesh for the starting job but Podlesh never joined the team following a family emergency in training camp.
