Ex-Quincy theater bookkeeper gets probation for embezzlement

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a former Quincy woman to two years probation on charges she stole nearly $13,000 from the city's community theater.

The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/1JiWXbM ) reports 52 -year-old P. Lynn Schlientz worked as the bookkeeper for the Quincy Community Theatre. She pleaded guilty to a count of felony theft in October and was sentenced Thursday.

Authorities say Schlientz told them she began to use a theater credit card to pay personal bills after her husband lost his job. They say purchases made between November 2011 and June 2013 included clothes, hockey tickets, meals and motorcycle equipment.

Schlientz was ordered as part of the plea agreement to pay about $17,000 in restitution, which included reimbursement for an audit done by the theater in its investigation. She now lives in Benton, Arkansas.
