COD board says yes to $762,000 Breuder severance deal

The College of DuPage board approved a four-page agreement last night that buys out President Robert Breuder with a $762,000 severance - nearly three times his base salary now - when he retires in March 2016. His contract had him working into 2019, but he wrote to the board earlier this week that "time is precious." The agreement proposal, though, said the two sides began discussing his retirement last April. The vote came with one dissenter who said Breuder should be shown the door. Full story.

Bail revoked for former Gavin teacher in sexual assault

A former Lake County middle school teacher appeared in a Waukegan courtroom yesterday where a judge ordered him held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges that he had sex with two former students, one of whom was videotaped being assaulted inside a Gavin South Middle School classroom. Autistic man from Glendale Heights is missing

A 30-year-old Glendale Heights man with autism went missing yesterday morning and police are asking for help from the public to find him. He was last seen on the 1500 block of Golfview Drive wearing blue jeans and a camouflage jacket. Full story.

Patrick leads 'Healthy Driven' campaign in suburbs

NASCAR racer Danica Patrick was in Lombard last night to introduce Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare's new Healthy Driven campaign, which encourages people to take steps toward a more healthy life. Messmer sings national anthem at Geneva/Batavia game

Last night's doubleheader boys' and girls' basketball games got an added boost from Wayne Messmer, who sang the national anthem before both games. Known for singing before Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs games, Messmer amped up the energy in the Geneva High School gymnasium. Full story.

2 arrested in St. Charles tobacco shop robbery

St. Charles police arrested two 20-year-old men who they say robbed a tobacco store Jan. 4 at gunpoint and knife point. The men, both of St. Charles, face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of felony armed robbery. Full story.

Seabrook's all-star honor well-deserved
