Lake Villa woman accused of stealing from service agency

A Lake Villa woman has been charged with taking money from a nonprofit organization that employed her as its financial coordinator.

Lake County sheriff's detectives arrested Karrol L. Williams, 45, of the 37000 block of North Columbus Drive on Friday.

She is charged with two counts of identity theft, theft, and unlawful use of a credit card.

Williams was employed as the financial coordinator for the Community Youth Network, a nonprofit organization based in Grayslake that provides counseling and specialized services for children and adolescents.

According to the sheriff's department, from mid-2012 until late 2014 Williams used CYN credit cards for personal purchases in the amount of $36,470, then moved funds from other CYN accounts to conceal her theft.

Williams was remanded to the Lake County jail on $10,000 bail, with her next court date scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 11.
