Live video game to test math skills of families at auto show

DETROIT (AP) - Families visiting the North American International Auto Show in Detroit will have a chance to compete against one other in a game that tests their mathematical skills.

Automation Workz 2015 is scheduled to run from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit.

The live video game allows teens and their families to complete hands-on invention, programming, 3D printing, mathematical, electronic and automotive activities. Automation Workz is powered by a mobile app with leaderboards.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three families that correctly complete activities with the highest points.

Game creator Ida Byrd-Hill says Automation Workz is designed to teach teens and adults how to use their math skills to direct their career paths while exposing them to the new skilled trade careers.
