J&P Moving Service to sponsor UFC Fighter Kenny Robertson

J&P Moving Service Inc., an Addison, IL-based residential mover, will sponsor Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Kenny Robertson in his upcoming match against fellow welterweight Sultan Aliev at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday, Jan 24. The preliminary fight will be televised on Fox Sports starting at 4 p.m. ET.

Robertson, who is a native of Spring Bay, Ill., was introduced to J&P Moving by a representative from the Apex Sports Agency, LLC. Robertson is a former Division I wrestler from Eastern Illinois University who graduated with a degree in career and technical education. Before exploring MMA and becoming a professional UFC fighter in 2008, he taught high school courses in woods and drafting.

Entering the upcoming fight on the 24th, Robertson is riding a two-fight win streak and holds a professional record of 14-3. Robertson's opponent, Sultan Aliev, hails from Russia and is a former ProFC fighter with a record of 13-1. Both are 30-year-old middleweights but at 185 lbs., Aliev outweighs Robertson by 15 pounds.

UFC differs from wrestling and boxing and was created as a new genre of fighting in 1993. It rapidly gained popularity throughout the world. The sport combines MMA (mixed martial arts) with other combat techniques. The contestants face off in an octagon-shaped "cage" ring, for a breathtaking display of combat skills which combine elements of wrestling, boxing, jiu jitsu, karate, tae kwon do and other martial arts. Common moves include strikes, clinching, take downs, ground, and submission holds. Last year, UFC held a record 46 events in 39 different cities across 14 countries and five continents. Matches are televised around the world.

Following Robertson vs. Aliev, the Jan. 24 main event will be the light heavyweight match between top contender Alexander Gustafsson and Georges St. Pierre.
