Michael Shank Racing wins pole for Rolex 24 at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Ozz Negri's fast lap in Thursday's qualifying session has given Michael Shank Racing the pole for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The Brazilian edged out Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing for the top starting spot in Saturday's twice-around-the-clock event.

Negri is teamed with John Pew, AJ Allmendinger and Matt McMurry in this year's race. They are piloting a Honda after Shank's offseason decision to leave Ford.

Scott Pruett qualified Ganassi's second entry in third, and was followed by defending race winner Joao Barbosa of Action Express Racing.

Andy Meyrick in a DeltaWing rounded out the top five.

Johnny Mowlem was the top qualifier in the Prototype Challenge division.
