Western Kentucky wins 14th straight, 80-74 over UTEP

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Chastity Gooch scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had eight steals to help Western Kentucky beat UTEP 80-74 on Thursday night to stretch its winning streak to 14 games.

Micah Jones had a game-high 22 points, going 10 of 12 from the free throw line, for Western Kentucky (17-2, 6-0 Conference USA). Tashia Brown was 5 of 8 from the field and hit all six of her free throws for 17 points. Alexis Govan hit 4 of 4 free throws and finished with 10 points as the Lady Toppers converted 30 of 36 from the line.

Cameasha Turner led UTEP (8-7, 3-3) with 18 points. Lulu McKinney had 16 and Anete Kirsteine 15. The Miners were hurt by 24 turnovers.

Lawna Kennedy pulled UTEP within 70-66 with 56 seconds left, but Jones, Govan, Kendall Noble and Ivy Brown combined to hit 10 of 10 free throws to seal it.
