Correction: Women's Veteran Coordinator story
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - In a story Jan. 21 about legislation that would require the Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs to maintain a designated coordinator for issues involving female veterans, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Laura McKee, an Air Force reservist who was appointed to the role last week, is the first person to hold that position. She is not, as others have previously served in the role.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs would be required to have a designated coordinator for issues involving female military veterans under a bill advancing in the state Legislature.
The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee voted 7-0 on Tuesday to send the proposal to the full Senate for consideration.
Bill sponsor Sen. Vaneta Becker of Evansville says the state's Women Veterans' Program needs a strong leader to ensure that female veterans get the attention they deserve.
State officials say more than 33,000 female veterans live in Indiana and have served during each war period since World War II.
Gov. Mike Pence last week appointed Air Force reservist Laura McKee as Indiana's state coordinator for female veterans.
