See Disney Sleeping Beauty Castle replica at Gail Borden

Children and adults can celebrate Disney from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

Visitors are encouraged to wear their favorite Disney costume and listen to the library's very own singing princess serenade with favorite Disney tunes. Also, visitors will have the opportunity to pose for pictures with Sarah the Singing Princess right next to the Disney Sleeping Beauty Castle replica, built of Legos and created by Lego Certified Professional Adam Reed Tucker. The castle is one of 14 world-famous landmarks built entirely of Legos at this free exhibit on display through Jan. 31. Tucker also recreated Fallingwater, John Hancock Center, Marina City, Willis Tower, Trump Tower, Burj Khalifa, Empire State Building, St. Louis Arch and more.

The Lego Cinderella Castle is now on display at the library.

Preschool & Childcare Information Fair: The library's annual Preschool & Childcare Information Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Meadows Community Rooms. Representatives from local licensed area preschools, day care centers and homes will be available to talk about their child care services and answer questions for parents and adult caregivers. The fair is open to the public and free. No registration is necessary to attend.

Finances and College - What You Should Know: Find out about college finances from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Elgin Room. Library staff will share information on completing the online FAFSA application and answer questions about college finances. The FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is required by most colleges and universities. This program is part of the Library's Road to College Series and is for students and their parents. It is in partnership with the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Elgin, Youth Leadership Academy, Elgin Area School District U-46, and Elgin Community College.

Bright Futures - Family Architecture Night: Feeling inspired by the Lego® exhibit? Families are invited to learn all about architecture through interactive games, stories and activities from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Meadows Community Rooms. No registration is necessary to attend. The program is presented in cooperation with Northern Illinois University STEM Read.
